After years of conversation around the lack of affordable housing — particularly in Flandreau — at least one long-discussed housing project appears to be moving closer to reality.
City officials confirmed during their most recent City Council meeting that they are working with a developer and a private investor on a potential residential apartment project. While details remain limited, officials shared that a group of city leaders and interested parties recently toured an apartment complex in Sioux Falls that could serve as a model for what may be built locally.
The possibility of an apartment development along Broad Avenue has been discussed for years, and officials indicated the project now appears to be gaining traction, with a more formal announcement expected in the near future.
Additional details are expected to be shared in a future edition of the Moody County Enterprise.
