Teal win over Elkton; open league play defeating Baltic

FLANDREAU – Flandreau’s Blue Teal amateur baseball team kept their season record unblemished with a pair of double-digit wins last week.
The Teal, now 3-0, downed the Elkton Snappers, 16-1 on Thursday and opened Corn Belt League play with a win over the Baltic Riverdawgs.

The Blue Teal nearly blanked the Snappers but settled for a pair of hits in a 16-1 win at home.
On the home side, the Teal racked up 12 hits including a pair of home runs from second baseman Michael Witte, and a home run and double by Mason Riley, Blue Teal centerfielder. Witte tallied up six RBI and scored two runs. Riley batted in three and Kolby Peters had three runs. Also leading at the plate was Brayden Byrum with a pair of singles.
The game was scoreless unless the Snappers scored their lone run in the top half of the third, but the Teal answered scoring four runs following up with five in the fourth and seven in the fifth. The three Snapper pitchers walked 10 Flandreau batters with Riley earning three of them. Also on offense, the Blue Teal were aggressive on the base path stealing seven bases.
Tash Lunday earned the win striking out five, walking two and giving up two hits and the one run.

Blue Teal 11, Riverdawgs 1
Lunday got the mound win again this time striking out nine, walking two and giving up six hits to Baltic in an 11-1 Corn Belt League season opener for the Blue Teal. He pitched all seven innings.
Last season, the Riverdawgs were Class A but dropped down to B this season and joined the Corn Belt league. They replace Colman in the league as the A’s will not field a team in 2026.
Flandreau pounded out 11 hits with Byrum getting a 2 run home run on Sunday.
From the batter’s box, the Blue Teal got 11 hits with Byrum getting a 2 run home run and doubles off the bats of Micah Otto and Dane Mediger. Witte was the patient one at the plate with three walks and he scored three runs. Mediger had three RBI to lead his team.
Thursday, the Blue Teal continue their home stands taking on Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks, 7:30 pm on Thursday.
