Get a win but bow out of post-season play

FLANDREAU – A seven run second inning sealed the win for the Flandreau high school baseball team on Monday, May 11 at Flandreau City Park when they defeated Garretson, 12-8. The Fliers pounded out 18 hits.
Steady at the plate was Tate Hammer (4 for ,4) with a duo of doubles, a triple and a one-base hit and along with Alex Poitra, scored three runs. Tyton Peters batted in four RBI via a timely double and a single.
Earning the win was Brody Johnson. He gave up six of the eight runs, four hits walked five and struck out two in four innings. Coming in relief was Estephan Nelson who pitched three innings with four hits, two runs and walking two. He struck out four Blue Dragons.
The high school team closed the regular season with a 4-8 record, and do not advance to any playoff games.
Seniors on the team include Xavier Bien, Jadon Eng and Alex Poitra.
