Girls claim runner-up in State Class B

For the second year in a row, the Colman-Egan Lady Hawks are the Class B Girls Runner-Up in Track and Field. The Hawk ladies combined for 60 points. SIOUX FALLS – Colman-Egan’s girls relay teams took gold in the final relay of the South Dakota High School Activities Association Class B girls track and field meet and placed second in three more relays to lead the Lady Hawks to a team runner-up title at the 2026 meet.
Among the medals the girls brought home, were two gold and three silver scoring 98 points. Bennett County girls won the Class B portion scoring 60 points. Ipswich was third with 49 points.
Opening the scoring on Thursday, the Colman-Egan girls medley relay team of Avery Baumberger, Crystal Silva Dominguez, Jolie Flatten and Brynlee Landis were first to medal taking the silver in a time of 4:15.92.

Colman-Egan’s 4×100 relay team set a new school record of 49.87 during the prelims. In the finals, the team of Baumberger, Finley Luze, Landis and Silva-Dominguez dropped that time to 49.57 for another school mark, but the foursome came in second.
In the 4×200 meter relay prelims, Luze, Silva Dominguez, Landis and Flatten ran to 1:43.91 to qualify for finals. On Saturday, the group again lowered their mark to 1:42.73 to finish second.
In the culmination of Friday’s events, the same group won the prelims of the 4×400 relay at 4:04.42. In Saturday’s state and season ending event, the team lowered their time and blazed to the gold. Senior Landis took the baton for the final time as a Hawk and as the third relay leg following runners one and two, Luze and Silva-Dominguez. Landis handed off to anchor, Flatten, who crossed the line in the winning time of 4:03.73.
Jolie Flatten was the lone single participant to win gold. She ran a 58.19 in the 400 meter dash prelims and went into finals as the number two runner. On Saturday, she bettered her time and cruised to gold at 57.40.

In the field events, Quinn Meyer was a double medal winner taking third in the high jump and fourth in the javelin. She jumped 5’4” in high jump for bronze and threw the javelin 118’11” securing points for her team.
Michoen Williamson was just shy of a medal placing 10th in the discus tossing the platter 100’ 8” but her effort of 36’8.25” in shot on Saturday was good enough to place fourth.

Three of the boys relays team advanced to the finals after the preliminary run.
The 4×100 qualified for finals with a 45.08 and then took seventh place in a time of 44.80. Team members were Hayden Pearson, Landon McManus, Mikano Lee and Rowdy Bowen.
In the 4×200 relay, members Lee, Bowen, Pearson and Zach Pederson came out of prelims with a time of 1:33.03. They finished in sixth place running to a time of 1:33.64.
Bowen, Luze, Lee and Pederson ran the 4×400 relay in a time of 3:36.43 to make it to finals. To close the meet out, the Hawks placed eighth at 3:39.37.
A sprint medley team of Lee, Pearson, Pederson and Luze fell short in placing but finished in a respectable ninth place with the time clocked at 3:46.07.
Other individual participants in state were Anya Hemmer in 300 meter hurdles, Mya Rieff in shot, Emmalynn Pickard in discus and Logan Claflin and Caden Zwart in high jump.
All events were held at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls, May 28-30.
