ESTELLINE – Friday evening saw the Hawk hoop teams heading to Estelline with the girls earning a win and the boy taking a loss to the Redhawks.
The Hawks have a trio of doubleheaders coming up this week. Tuesday, both teams were to be at Howard and then Friday, host Deubrook Area before traveling to Lake Preston to take on the Sharks on Monday, Feb. 16.
Boys vs. E-H
The Redhawks flew out to an 18-6 first quarter lead and held the advantage the rest of the way in a 62-31 double up win over the Colman-Egan boys hoop team.
At half time, the score was 32-12 and after three quarters, it was 49-23. Colman-Egan shot a low 27.3% (12 of 44) to E-H’s 42.4% (25 of 59).
With 15 points, Caden Zwart led the Hawks in scoring with Julian Allen adding nine. Off the boards, Westyn Pearson had 10 rebounds and Logan Claflin, six.
The Hawks were abundant in turnovers with 22 allowing E-H 17 steals.
Leading the Redhawks was Cade Hexem with 17 and Kade Hauck with 12.
Girls vs. E-H
In the other half of the doubleheader, the Hawk girls defeated Estelline-Hendricks, 67-45.
The teams were tied at 11 after a quarter of play and then the Hawks outlasted the Redhawks, 28-22 by half time.
The Hawks scored 17 third quarter points to set the score at 45-32 heading into the fourth. Here Colman-Egan put up 22 final frame points to earn the win.
Brynlee Landis led all scorers with 29 points. Jolie Flatten earned 26 points firing in seven 3-point shots in her contribution.
