Farmers Market starts Thursday

Its an event so many look forward to each summer the return of local vendors, fresh food, and friendly faces to downtown Flandreau. The first Flandreau Farmers Market of the season is set for this Thursday evening on the courthouse square.
From 5:30 to 7 p.m., vendors will line the east end of the square with everything from popcorn and salsa to early garden vegetables. While its still a little early for a wide variety of produce, organizers say the lineup of vendors is growing and will only get better as the season progresses.
This week also features the first Touch-a-Truck event, hosted by the Moody County 4-H and the Moody County Resource Center. Kids and adults alike will have the chance to check out large-scale equipment like an excavator, fire truck, and other trucks in a hands-on, sit-behind-the-wheel experience.
New this year, the market will be held every other week rather than weekly, in hopes of making the scheduled events even more of a draw.
Davids tacos (Tacos el Pastor) from Mad Marys and other local eats will be on hand, along with face painting and other family-friendly activities.
Rain is in the forecast, so organizers encourage attendees to check the Flandreau Farmers Market Facebook page for updates. The market will continue every other Thursday through mid-September.
