CE/F opens season on the diamond

The Colman-Egan/Flandreau High School Baseball season is underway and the team has completed three games within the week.
They opened against Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney Padres on Wednesday, April 9 and then hosted Sioux Falls Christian Chargers on Thursday dropping both games. Sunday, they got on the winning track against Baltic. The team is coached by Mike Witte.

Vs. MVPCS
CE/F suffered a big loss in three innings against the Padres, 16-1. They allowed nine first inning Padre scores.
Alex Poitra was the lone Flier to get a hit. Micah Otto started for the Fliers giving up seven hits and 13 runs in two innings. Xavier Bien came in and pitched an inning with two runs and three hits allowed. The locals made eight errors in the season opener.

Vs. SFC
Four CE/F pitchers gave up 10 runs and 10 hits in the 10-2 loss to the Chargers. The Fliers had two hits, both singles by Emmett Skroch and Jadon Eng. Tate Hammer earned two walks.

Vs. Baltic
The locals got in the win column on Sunday at Baltic edging the Bulldogs, 13-12.
Bien started the game from the bump and gave up four runs, seven walks but struck out 10 in three innings before being relieved by Trevor Peters. Peters allowed eight runs and was replaced by Hammer for the final inning and a third.
Flandreau collected 14 hits and 12 walks in the game while only striking out five times in the seven inning contest. The hitting was done by Bien with five, Skroch with four and Eng with two. The Fliers had several stolen bases. Poitra led with three.
Next up the team hosts West Central on Wednesday at 5:30 for the only game of the week.
