SIOUX CENTER, IA Flandreaus girls softball opened the season in an indoor Beresford hosted invitational on Saturday dropping a game to Beresford, 3-0, but defeated Sioux Valley, 9-8. All games were played at American State Bank Sports Complex.

The Fliers garnered six hits to Beresfords five
All the scoring was done early in the game.
Olivia Peters was on the mound for the Fliers giving up the five hits, while striking out six Watchdog batters. She allowed seven walks.
Flandreau 9, Sioux Valley 8
The Fliers came from behind and held the Cossacks off to earn their first win of the 2025 season.
The Cossacks were ahead 5-1 after three innings. The Flier bats came alive in the top of the fifth when they scored eight runs on four hits taking the lead 9-5. Hailieanne Schepel drove in two runs with a single.
Nora Hamilton got the win for the Fliers giving up seven hits and three runs over four and two-thirds innings of work. She also struck out five and didnt allow a base on balls.
Peters started the game and gave up seven hits, five runs and struck out three in her two and one-third innings on the mound.
On offense, Jacey Sundermeyer, Rylee Allen and Schepel each had two hits. Addy Hammer and Peters both drove in two runs and Hamilton collected three walks.
The team had seven walks and 13 stolen bases.
