Moody County is blessed with some incredible literary and online resources through the Colman Branch Library and the Moody County Resource Center.
Some area families have libraries of their own. When those libraries are either overflowing, well-read, or not read well at all, more individuals and families are sharing what books they have through Little Free Libraries.
JoyAnn Lynn, and her husband, Steve, often stop by one of Flandreaus Little Free Libraries when they are in town visiting their daughter and son-in-law, Marquelle and Josh Edlund, and their grandchildren, Kerby and Mylah.
We love stopping by, said Lynn.
There are always great books here, and like this, there are little books for kids. We take them back, look at them and read them, and we find some really good books.
Little Free Library, a nonprofit based in St. Paul, Minnesota, aims to build community, inspire readers, and expand book access through a global network of volunteer-led book-exchange boxes. The organizations goal is to have at least one Little Free Library in every community, providing a book for every reader.
While hundreds of thousands of these libraries are registered worldwide, not every small, wooden box filled with books is officially part of the nonprofits network. Regardless, the concept remains consistent: take a book, leave a book, and foster a love of reading.
