As a follow-up to a story we ran last week, Moody County Commissioners have officially approved a new two-year agreement with the South Dakota Department of Health to relocate local public health and WIC services to the Extension Building in Flandreau.
The board this past week authorized Chair Carla Bruning to sign a Memorandum of Understanding, allowing the state to use office space in the building for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program.
The move follows the states decision earlier this year to end its longtime Public Health Alliance partnership with Avera, which had previously housed the county nurses office.
Services offered through the county nurse program include support for local families especially expectant mothers, new parents, and young children through nutrition education, health screenings, immunizations, and other essential resources.
