Flandreaus 17U baseball team had a tough go at the STate 17U Bravo Division tourney by failing to get a win, but brought home the Lou Thury Sportsmanship award from the weekend in Gregory, July 25-27.
The Flandreau team lost in the opening round to Mt. Vernon Plankinton, 5-1.
Brody Johnson, Trevor Peters and Griffin Hemmer all had singles.
Johnson took the loss onthe mound giving up two hits and five runs. He struck out four.
In the next game, the Flandreau team faced Corsica-Stickney and were shut out, 4-0.
Xavier Bien doubled and Tucker Hemmer singled. Trevor Peters, Jake Hamilton and Tucker Hemmer all pitched in the game.
Mobridge then blanked the Flandreau boys, 11-0. Earning one-base hits were Hammer (2), Tucker Hemmer and Peters.
Flandreau got the bats going in the final game with 12 team hits, but fell short in a 15-8 rematch with Corsica-Stickney.
Bien, Emmett Skroch and Peters all doubled and had a single. Others earning singles were Johnson and Mason Wright with a pair each and Tate Hammer and Tucker Hemmer.
Peters and Griffin Hemmer combined on the mound.
