MADISON – Both Flandreau and Colman-Egan were invited to the Dan Barker Relays on a beautiful Friday held at the Dan Beacom Track Complex on the campus of Dakota State University.
The teams saw competition from all three classes – AA, A and B – at the event.
There was a brisk north/northwest wind but the teams barged on and placed well.
Class AA Brookings won both boys and girls titles scoring 159 and 140 point respectively.
The Flandreau boys came in third and the Colman-Egan girls were fourth.
Due to the Hawks’ graduation on Saturday, Colman-Egan seniors did not run that day.
For the Fliers, Faith Wiese won the 400 meter dash and was on the 4×400 winning team with Kiley Westberry, Rhegan Sheppard and Rona Streitz.
Westberry and Streitz were also members of the 4×800 team along with Willow Stephens and Tenley LeBrun that took first.
In her first varsity event, seventh grader Micah Kill-A-Hundred pole vaulted 7’6” to set a new school record in a fairly new event for the Flier girls.
For the Hawk girls, Jolie Flatten won 100 meter dash and Quinn Meyer got a season best high jump of 5’4” to win those events.
The duo joined with teammates Crystal Silva-Dominguez and Finley Luze to win the 4×200 relay.
Boys for both squads did not win any gold medals but turned in good times and showings.
