As the weather finally cooperates and residents start tackling spring yard cleanup, there’s some good news for Egan residents with trailers full of branches and leaves.
Since Egan’s former yard waste site is currently unavailable after the city lost its lease agreement for the property, Egan residents will now be able to use the City of Flandreau’s yard waste site during normal operating hours this season.
Flandreau City Council approved an agreement with the City of Egan that includes a $1,000 fee for access. The fee will be paid by the City of Egan.
Egan officials say they are still working to either secure their previous site again or develop a new one on city-owned property, though that option would require some excavation work. The hope is to have a permanent solution in place by next year.
