IRENE The Flandreau Indians took third place in the Region 2B Boys Cross Country meet held at Glenridge Golf Course near Irene last week and therefore will send six runners to the state meet this weekend at Broadland Creek Golf Course, Huron.
First place in team standings was Irene-Wakonda with 24 points and Sioux Falls Lutheran with 33 narrowly edging the FIS team who had 34 points.
Individually, Kenton James was eighth clocking a time of 19:08.72 and Shaw Howard was 12th in a time of 19:21.59 to lead the Indians.
Kaden Burshiem finished 26th recording a time of 20:55.59 and Antonio Romeo Hart finished 28th in a time of 20:57.69.
Mason Brushbreaker, with a time of 24:39.45, and Aric Arnell at 26:55.55, will also comprise the FIS runners heading to state.
Winning medalist honors was Noah Baumbach of Sioux Falls Lutheran with his winning time of 18:14.43.
