Egan election to feature three-way race for two seats

Correction…

The Moody County Enterprise is offering a correction to a story published last week regarding the upcoming municipal election in Egan.

The City of Egan will have a three-way race for two trustee positions, rather than one contested seat and one uncontested seat as previously reported.
Nancy Hansen, Karlie Ten Eyck and Allen Loehr have all filed and will appear on the June 2 ballot. The top two vote-getters will be elected to serve on the board.
Both positions are three-year terms. Because the trustee seats are at-large and carry the same term length, they are not considered separate races. Instead, the election will be conducted as a single contest, with the two candidates receiving the most votes filling the available seats.
City officials consulted with their attorney to confirm how the election should be handled. Based on that guidance and a review of state law, the election will proceed in this format.
