First chislic feed hosted by firefighters, Saturday

The Flandreau Fire Department is inviting the community to join them for their first-ever Chislic Feed this Saturday, June 7, starting at 5 p.m. at the new Fire Hall.
The event marks the start of what the department hopes will become an annual tradition one that not only brings people together for a fun, casual evening but also raises funds to support the growing needs of the department.
Were excited to try something new, said former Fire Chief and nearly 40-year-veteran of the department Mike Blum.
This is hopefully just a new way for us to connect with the community, serve up some great food well have both lamb and beef chislic there, bouncy houses for the kids, and well hopefully gain some support for what we need. Weve got a lot that we continually need to upgrade.
In recent months, the department has taken on several big-ticket expenses, including the purchase of a new brush truck and the opening of the new fire hall. Like many rural departments, Flandreaus team of dedicated firefighters is tasked with responding to a wide range of calls and keeping equipment in reliable working condition is critical.
From protective gear to maintenance, the costs add up, said Blum. Fundraisers like this one help offset those expenses and ensure firefighters have what they need to respond to emergencies.
The meal will feature South Dakotas famed chislic, with sides and refreshments available.
Come hungry, bring the family, and help us kick off what we hope is a new tradition, said Blum.
Wed love to see everyone there.
