Spring fieldwork pauses as farmers welcome much-needed moisture

Farmers across the region are wasting no time getting into the fields, working to till and fertilize ahead of the spring planting season. While a mix of rain, snow, and sleet over the weekend quickly put those efforts on hold, but it wont be long before farm machinery will be back out in force on area roads. The abrupt change in weather may have slowed fieldwork, but the moisture has been a welcome relief amid ongoing drought conditions. With more rain in the forecast and temperatures expected to hover in the 40s, growers remain optimistic that improving soil conditions will allow them to get back to work in the coming weeks.
