Nine-year-old Abe Haak, of Brandon, spent the weekend camping and fishing alongside the Big Sioux River in Trent. His mom, Lynn, stood nearby to supervise and help keep enough bait handy. Abe, she said, went through at least one box of worms before catching one small fish and it was enough to keep him trying for more and learning to bait his own hook. Abe, his mom, and their entire family, spent this past weekend at River of the Double Bend Campground where they fished and kayaked. Sundays weather was quite a bit cooler than the mid-90s that blanketed the region this past week, and a perfect day for anglers along the river.
The River of the Double Bend Campground is planning a Sand Bar Poker Run, August 25, which will done via kayak, canoe or other water flotation device. More on this in next weeks Enterprise.
