Correction: Moody County commission races

In our recent preview of the upcoming Moody County Commission races, we incorrectly identified the open commission seats.
Kristina Krull is running unopposed for the seat currently held by Kendra Eng, who was recently appointed following the resignation of former Commission Chair Carla Bruning. Krull was the only candidate to file for that seat before the deadline.
Tom Stenger is running unopposed for the District 2 seat being vacated by longtime Commissioner Jerry Doyle.
Also appearing on local ballots this election cycle will be school board races, ballot initiatives, and state and national contests.
Voters will still have an opportunity to hear directly from candidates in the county’s two contested commission races during a casual candidate meet-and-greet and brief forum set for Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at The Merc in Flandreau.
In the interest of transparency, The Merc is owned by the editor of this newspaper. The event is being organized not as a political endorsement, but as a community opportunity for voters to meet candidates, ask questions, and learn more ahead of the June 2 Republican primary election.
