Construction on the new Fire Station in Flandreau is nearing completion.
Workers with WS Construction, the general contractor, were on site this past Friday taking care of final details, including paint and electrical work.

A few minor setbacks, including some change orders on various elements of the building, have added to the timeline and pushed back the anticipated initial opening date. City Administrator Cohl Turnquist added that a few minor repairs needed to be made that were typical of new construction.
But the nearly $3 million station that serves the greater Flandreau and Moody County areas is now nearly complete.
Ground was broken on the project last June after more than three years of discussions about a location and what truly was needed. Included in the new facility will be more room to house equipment, more space around the trucks for safety, a kitchen, a meeting room with technology and space for training, and room for future expansion if it is needed.
