Hawks earn first win in multiple hit game over Dolphins

COLMAN – It took an extra inning for the Colman-Egan Hawks to defeat the Deubrook Area Dolphins on the softball diamond and the win came from a Brianne Bowen triple to seal the win, 17-16.
The bats were hot as the Hawks garnered 22 hits and the Dolphins, 18 and neither team made an error. Down, 8 to 15. Colman-Egan’s big offensive inning came in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 16 and force the extra inning where they held the Dolphins scoreless.
The massive amount of hits came in the form of a home run by Chloe Bryan, two triples by Bowen, a triple and a double off the bat of Harper Mousel and a slew of doubles by Kinley Giegle, Chloe Schmidt and Maebe Groos who had a pair of two base hits.
Bowen led in plate appearances going 6 for 6 scoring three runs and making two RBI. Mousel was 3 for 4 and scored three times.
The Hawks excelled on the bases stealing 25 bases.
Schmidt was the starter throwing 2.1 innings. She gave up five hits and seven runs. Her relief, Mousel, came in and allowed 13 hits and nine runs, but held the Dolphins scoreless in the final frame and Bowen’s walkoff led her to earn the win.
