
FLANDREAU – Play resumed between the Flandreau Cardinals and the Flandreau Blue Teal from a postponed June 7th game and then the two Flandreau teams played a seven inning regular season contest following on Thursday, July 9.
The Cardinals won the suspended game, 12-2 and the Blue Teal took the regular season game, 9-8.
On June 7, rain halted the game between the two Flandreau teams in the bottom of the fifth. The Cardinals held the lead 11-2.
Last Thursday, only one more run was scored by the Cardinals and they picked up the win, 12-2, using a 15 hit game.
Garnering those hits was Jacolby Anderson with three singles and three RBI. JC Morales and Jacob Patterson both sailed one over the fence and added a single.
Four Cardinals had doubles including Mitchel Foster, Austin King, Noel Burgos and Luke Gassman. Scoring two runs each were Patterson, Bret Severtson and Keith Cutler.

The Blue Teal had a tough go at the plate with Tash Lunday earning two singles in the effort.
On the mound, Lunday took the loss giving up 11 runs off 13 hits. Severtson was the winning Cardinal pitcher throwing five innings allowing two runs from four hits and a walk and striking out four Blue Teal.
Directly following the game, it was the Blue Teal’s turn to be the home team and they did so by breaking an 8-all tie in the bottom of the ninth to win 9-8.
The Cardinals came back from an 8-3 deficit with a five run seventh inning tying the game heading into the bottom of the ninth. A Cardinal error scored the Blue Teal’s winning run.
Emmott Nathan and Kolby Peters each had a three hit game both pounding out a double and two singles. Mason Riley also hit a double. Scoring runs were Riley, Tate Hammer, Alex Poitra and Micah Otto. Leading in RBI was Matthew Gassman coming from his two singles.
The Blue Teal collected 14 hits and held the Cardinals to seven. Patterson had another home run and a single for three RBI.
