Flag Day flag exchange Sunday in Egan

Community members with worn or damaged American flags have an opportunity to properly retire them during a Flag Day flag exchange hosted by VFW Post 3351 on Saturday, June 14.
The annual event, traditionally held at the Veterans Center in Flandreau, is being relocated this year to Egan’s Flag Day Celebration, in the hopes of reaching more area residents. VFW volunteers will be on hand between noon and 3 p.m. to accept worn flags for proper disposal according to established flag retirement practices.
New American flags will then be available for those wishing to replace a weathered flag. While the flags are being offered at no cost, organizers say donations to help offset expenses will be gratefully accepted.
Organizers encourage anyone with a flag that is faded, torn, or no longer suitable for display to bring it to the VFW booth during the celebration.
