Take part in two Last Chance Meets

The Flandreau Fliers were in two track and field meets last week as the season winds down to state.

Last Chance Tri-Valley
TRI-VALLEY SCHOOLS – The Fliers participated Thursday at the Tri-Valley Last Chance Meet which was the first of two meets last week.
Last Chance Meets are just that – one final chance to lower times, raise heights and increase distances to earn a spot in the State meet.
In the girls division, Ella Hoffman and Kiley Westberry raced to first and second in the 100 and Faith Wiese was second in the 400.
Boys triple jumper Luke Sheppard was second.

Flier boys win at Arlington
ARLINGTON – The Flier boys won the team title at the Arlington Last Chance meet held Friday, May 22 scoring 91 points. Sioux Valley was second with 83.
On the girls side, Ethan/Parkston won with 104.5 points. A small Flier squad scored 38 points for seventh place.
The meet was the second last chance in two days for the Fliers and was the final regular season meet for 2026.
Highlights from the meet include seventh grader Micah Kills-A-Hundred pole vaulting well enough to take first and earn a spot at the State tournament. Senior runner Faith Wiese won the 400 meter dash and Tenley LeBrun was second in the 3200 meter run.
Nathan Ross won the high jump, Jake Hamilton won the pole vault and Sam Schmidt was third, and Logan Kontz and Nate Hobbie were one, two in the 3200 meter run. Senior Luke Sheppard was second in the triple jump.
