BERESFORD – Flandreau won one of two games in the Big East Conference tournament losing to two SoDak 16 competitors.
The Fliers lost the first game to Beresford 7-0, won over Garretson 8-4 and then were defeated by Baltic, 6-4.
Flandreau ended the regular season with a 12-10 record and an invite to play in the Class B SoDak 16. They’ll be the 12th seed which matches them with the fifth seed, Hanson. The game will be held Tuesday, May 26. The site was not announced as of press time. A win would put the Fliers in the State Class B tournament to be held in Aberdeen June 4-6.
Beresford 7, Fliers 0
The Watchdogs shut out the Fliers in five innings. Flandreau only got four hits against the number 5 seed in Class A. Singles came from Nora Hamilton, Ady Krull, Makenzie Gregory and Addy Hammer.
Aly Schepel was the losing pitcher giving up eight hits and striking out four.
Fliers 8, Garretson 4
The Fliers picked up their lone win over the Blue Dragons and collected 10 hits in the game. Grace Quick hit a home run and a single giving her two RBI. Triples were hit by Hammer and Krull and doubles came from Hamilton and Schepel.
Hamilton earned the win giving up five hits.
Baltic 6, Fliers 4
Baltic, the sixth seed in the Class B SoDak 16, also got the better of the Fliers to end Flandreau’s day.
Schepel recorded the loss allowing eight hits, six runs, striking out two.
The Flier hitting was handled by Quick and Hammer using doubles and a single. Schepel singled twice. Quick had three RBI and Hammer scored twice.
On road at Beresford and Chester
The Flier softball team dropped two game last week, both on the road. They fell on Monday to Beresford, 13-3, and Tuesday to Chester, 12-8.
Grace Quick was 3 for 3 and Addy Hammer was 2 for 3, but the Fliers couldn’t handle the Watchdogs in the loss.
Quick and Ady Krull both hit doubles and Addy Hammer had a pair of singles. The Fliers had six hits to the Watchdogs nine
Hamilton was in the circle and suffered the loss. In five innings she allowed all 13 runs off nine hits. She walked five and struck out six.
In a high hitting affair, Chester earned the victory over the Fliers.
The teams combined for 30 hits. Flandreau’s leaders were Hammer with a double and Schepel with three singles. Elodie Amdahl, Hamilton and Krull each hit two singles.
Schepel took the loss throwing all six innings and giving up 17 Flyer hits for the 12 runs.
