Meet the Candidates: Moody County Commissioner Forum

Voters will have a chance to meet the candidates hoping to help shape Moody County’s future later this month.
A community meet-and-greet and brief candidate panel discussion featuring those running for Moody County Commissioner will be held TWednesday, May 27 at 7 p.m. at The Merc, 111 E. 2nd Ave., Flandreau.
From 7 to 7:30 p.m., candidates will introduce themselves, share a bit about who they are, the principles they’re running on, and why they’re seeking office. Following the introductions, attendees will have an opportunity for casual conversation and one-on-one discussion with candidates.
This year’s election includes three open county commission seats, which will be decided in the June 2 election. The event is intended to give local residents a chance to become more familiar with the people asking for their vote before heading to the polls.
Editor’s Note: In the interest of transparency, this event is being hosted at The Merc, a local business owned by the editor of this newspaper. The event is being organized not as a political endorsement, but as a community effort to provide local voters with an informal opportunity to meet the candidates seeking public office ahead of the June 2 election. As both engaged community members and local business owners, we believe creating space for civic conversation is important, and as editor, I believe helping inform voters is equally part of that responsibility.
