Blayne Woodward

Blayne Woodward, age 93

Blayne W. Woodward was born on January 31, 1933 in Brookings, South Dakota to Frances and Herbert Woodward. He passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, in Franklin Tennessee, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Glenda; his daughter, ReJean, and her husband, Brad; his son, Brad, and his wife, Gina; his grandchildren, Erika, Rachel, and Caden; and two great-grandchildren, Margot and Quinn.

Blayne served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He spoke very little about his service until his work for the U.S. Air Force Security Services (USAFSS) was significantly declassified in 1997. After that, he enjoyed attending reunions with those he served alongside and sharing many stories with others. He had a long career in financial services ultimately retiring in 1998 from Dakota State Bank in Colman, South Dakota. He was blessed with many fulfilling years of retirement.

He was a great historian and storyteller, having grown up during the Great Depression and WWII. When asked about his favorite activity, Blayne would say it was watching his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren grow and participate in their many activities.

Blayne lived a life marked by unwavering commitment to his family, humility, service, and quiet faith. Tucked inside his wallet, he always kept his favorite bible verse, Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own, listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go. He is the one who will keep you on track.”
