Big hits in two softball games

Colman-Egan split action on the softball diamond taking a loss to MCM and winning over ORR.

Vs. MCM
COLMAN – The Hawks scored first but the Fighting Cougars scored in every other inning and closed out the game with a 10 run seventh to defeat Colman-Egan 29-10.
There were 37 hits in the high-scoring affair with MCM garnering 27 of them.
The Hawks held a 9-5 lead heading into the top of the fourth before the Cougars busted out eight runs to take the lead and cruise to the win.
For the Hawk effort, Maebe Groos made the lone extra base hit with a double. All other hits were singles
Sadie McCorkle batted 3 for 3 and scored two runs. Kinley Giegle also scored a run.
Earning the RBI were Giegle, Brianne Bowen, Chloe Schmidt and Chloe Bryan.
The Hawk pitchers were pounded with earned runs. Schmidt had 15 and Harper Mousel, 14. Together they struck out eight Cougars in 60 at bats.

Vs. ORR
RAMONA – The Hawks got into the win column by blasting out 23 hits in a 13-9 win over Oldham-Ramona-Rutland on Friday.
Brianne Bowen and Chloe Schmidt both batted 5 for 5 and Bowen drove in four runs to lead their team at the plate. They didn’t have the only hot bats. Bowen joined Maebe Groos and Kinley Giegle in belting out a triple and a double. Also getting a double was Chloe Bryan.
Harper Mousel started in the circle for the Hawks pitching all seven innings. She allowed 10 hits in allowing the nine runs but fanned 11 Raiders at the plate.
Next up the Hawks take the 2-7 record and head to Sioux Falls Christian on Tuesday. Thursday, they’ll face both Bridgewater-Emry and Castlewood with games starting at 4 on the Field of Dreams. Then Monday, May 11, they host Viborg-Hurley.
