FLANDREAU – Flandreau’s Blue Teal opened the amateur baseball season with a 10-run win Sunday afternoon against the Pipestone A’s.
The Blue Teal jumped ahead 4-3 after three innings and then held the A’s to a lone run in the top of the seventh while blasting in 10 more runs over five innings.
Emmott Nathan earned his first win of the season on the mound throwing five innings. He allowed three runs off two hits and struck out double digits sending 10 batters back to the dugout.
His reliever, Tristan Peters, allowedo ne run off two hits and struck out five in two innings of work.
In the batter’s box, Tash Lunday collected four RBI off two hits, one a double. Centerfielder Micah Otto had three singles for two RBI and scored three runs. Michael Witte and Tanner Christenson were patient at the plate taking three bases on balls and combining for three Blue Teal runs.
The Blue Teal next host the Elkton Snappers on Thursday, May 14 and are set to open the Corn Belt League schedule on Sunday, May 17 against a newcomer to the league, Baltic Riverdawgs. The Colman A’s will not roster a team this season.
