Hawk girls blaze a trail at Dakota Relays

4×400 record-setting relay team, Finley Luze, Brynlee Landis, Crystal Silva-Dominguez and Jolie Flatten. The same foursome set a record in the 4×200 meter relay at the 101st Dakota Relays

SIOUX FALLS – Two meet records, one school record and three relay crowns were all accomplished by the Colman-Egan girls track members as they were on fire at the 101st Howard Wood Dakota Relays held May 1-2. Five girls were a part of winning the 4×100, 4×200 and Medley relays and taking third in two other events.
Their Dakota Relays record setting began Friday with the 4×200. The foursome of Finley Luze, Crystal Silva-Dominguez, Brynlee Landis and Jolie Flatten combine their 200 to win with a time of 1:44.12. They also set a Colman-Egan school record in this event.
The same squad continued on Saturday morning taking the Medley relay with Luze and Silva-Dominguez running the 200s, Flatten the 400 and Landis the 800 crossing the line first in a time of 4:15.18.
Both of these relay performances place the Hawks as number one in Class B performance lists.

Saturday afternoon in the open 400 race, which included runners from all three classes, Flatten was the first Class B runner to cross the finishing line coming in third with a season best time of 57.61 to put her on top of Class B.
A different foursome of Avery Baumberger, Luze, Silva-Dominguez and Landis ran the 4×100 relay in a great time of 51.09 to take third in that event but still places them as number two in the lists.
Culminating the day, the foursome of Luze, Silva-Dominguez, Landis and Flatten took down a record set in 1978 by a squad from Burke. Their record setting time was 4:03.74 and also sets them as the number one relay team in Class B girls.

The boys foursome of Cruz Luze, Landon McManus, Rowdy Bowen and Mikano Lee placed 13th in the 4×400.

Hawks take part in Danielson Relays

SALEM – The girls relay teams racked up four gold medals and two Hawks won field events at the Danielson Relays hosted by McCook Central/Montrose on Tuesday, April 28.
Winning were the 4×100, 4×200, 4×400 and the medley relays teams. Relay members in those events were Finley Luze, Brynlee Landis, Crystal Silva-Dominguez, Jolie Flatten, Caylee LeBrun and Michoen Williamson. In the field, Williamson won the shot and Quinn Meyer won the high jump with a season best leap of 5’3” moving her up to the top four in Class B performance lists.
The boys had a trio of third place finishes in the 4×100, 4×200 and medley relays.
