Early last week, the Fliers split action on the field both at home and on the road. They suffered the season’s first loss on Monday and regrouped for a win on Tuesday.
FLANDREAU – The Fliers extended a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth scoring five runs to go on to win 10-2 over the Arlington Cardinals.
Flandreau used only four hits but took advantage of two walks and three Cardinal errors.
Makenzie Gregory belted out a double and Ady Krull batted 2 for 4 and had four RBI. Addy Hammer had patience walking all four plate appearances and scoring four runs.
The winning pitcher was Nora Hamilton. She threw all seven innings striking out six, walking two and allowing four hits and two runs.
VOLGA – Before the win over Arlington, the Flier team was in Volga to take on the Sioux Valley Cossacks. Here, they suffered their season’s first loss via the 10 run rule, 11-1.
The Fliers were only able to get one hit, a single by Reagen Loiseau. Senior Addy Hammer earned the lone RBI.
Aly Schepel took the mound loss pitching four innings. She gave up all 11 runs off seven hits; walked three and struck out three.
Schwab was the winning pitcher striking out 11 Flier batters.
