VOLGA – For the second time this season, the Sioux Valley Cossacks found a way to defeat the Fliers on the high school baseball diamond. Final score on Wednesday, April 29 was 12-2. The Cossacks started strong with nine hits for 10 first inning runs while Flier Tristan Peters was on the mound for 2/3 of an inning. He was relieved by Tyton Peters for the other 3.1 innings giving up two runs off three hits.
The Cossacks swatted out 12 hits while the Fliers mustered up five hits for their pair of runs which both came in the fourth inning.
For the Fliers, Alex Poitra batted out a double and Tyton Peters had two singles in the five inning affair. Earning the RBI were Brody Johnson and Braysen Gould.
The next six Flandreau games are on the road. The Fliers are at Madison on Tuesday and at Deuel on Wednesday; both 6 p.m. games. Saturday, they travel to Clark for a 2 p.m. game.
Next week, Wednesday, May 6 they head to Elkton-Lake Benton for a 5:30 contest. Flandreau was to host Milbank last Sunday but postponed due to the weather. The game will be made up on Saturday, May 9 as part of a double header with the Bulldogs. First game is 2 p.m. followed by a 5 p.m. contest.
