Will be held on Sunday, June 14 – Flag Day!
The City of Egan and the Egan American Legion Family will host America’s 250th Birthday Celebration on Flag Day, Sunday, June 14, 2026. The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Festivities begin with a community church service at the Egan Church at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Alan Blankenfeld will lead the service, and music will be provided by the Singing Legionnaires of Sioux Falls.
All other activities will take place in the downtown area, creating a central hub for the celebration.
A variety of food options will be available throughout the day, including BlueJays, Sheep Flockers Food Truck, and the SDSU Ice Cream Truck.
The Egan American Legion Family will host a “garage sale” at the Senior Citizens Center starting at noon. Community members are encouraged to donate clean and gently used items. All proceeds from the sale will support the upkeep of the Avenue of Flags in Egan. Donations can be dropped off at the center on Saturday, June 13.
There will be a range of activities for children, including Liberty’s Troops Train and a patriotic kids’ parade. Participants are encouraged to decorate bikes, wagons, pets, and costumes in red, white, and blue. Additional activities will be announced as they are confirmed.
A patriotic vehicle show will also be part of the celebration. All types of vehicles—including cars, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, four wheelers, and ATVs—are welcome, as long as they feature red, white, and blue colors.
Celebration goers are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
Entertainment will be provided, and a vendor’s fair will take place. Those interested in hosting a booth are responsible for bringing their own tables, chairs, and other necessary equipment.
More details about the event will be shared in the coming weeks. Mark your calendars and join us in Egan, SD on June 14 to celebrate this historic event.
