Area golfers get on the course to open season
The local high school golfers hit the links in fair weather last week, but had to deal with some wind on Thursday.
Colman-Egan and FIS were at Garretson on Tuesday, April 14 and Flandreau and C-E were at Lake Region Golf Course on Thursday.
GARRETSON – Colman-Egan Hawks and Flandreau Indians were on the River Ridge Course near Garretson.
The Lady Hawks were third as a team scoring +49 finishing at 157. Dell Rapids St. Mary won the team title with a 136 and Sioux Valley was second at 150.
The boys division was won by the team from Freeman with a 119.
Allie Hansen of Dells St. Maryshot the low round with a 44 for the girls and Tanner Auch of Freeman was boys medalist with a 37.
For the Hawks, both Mauryn Landis and Aspen Clark shot a 13 over par 49 on the course to tie for sixth. Also for Colman-Egan, Paityn Heiter shot a 59 and Laney Hanson a 62.
The Hawk boys team found Landon Preheim scoring a 52 and Emerson Hinricher, 54. Camden Minor shot 65 on the day.
On the boys side, FIS’s Kaden Burshiem shot for third with a 39 as the top FIS competitor. His teammate Aric Armell finished with a 73.
The girls had three golfers with Davioni Sheridan firing a 65, Michelle White Hawk shot a 68 and Julienne Fish a 73.
LAKE POINSETT – Thursday, April 16 Colman-Egan and Flandreau golfers were at the Lake Region Golf Course near Lake Poinsett for the Hamlin Invitational.
The Hawk girls, the only local full team, finished fourth shooting a 164. Clark/Willow Lake won the invite with their low 137. Sioux Valley was second at 146 and Sisseton came in third with a combined round of 157.
Mauryn Landis tied for eighth finishing with a 12 over par 49 to lead the Hawks. Her teammate Paityn Heiter finished in 19th place with a score of 56. Laney Hanson shot a 59 for 23 and Aspen Clark ended at 60 for 27th place.
Flandreau’s Madison Bushkofsky shot a 56 good enough for 20th place.
On the boys side, Flier Hunter Bushkofsky finished the course at seven over par 42 placing him seventh. His lone teammate on the day, Bryson LeBrun, ended the day at 52 placing him 27th.
For the Hawks, Emerson Hinricher fired a 53 and Camden Minor, a 75.
