Mad Mary’s did not reopen this past week as originally planned, confirming the end of its more than 30-year run as a regional staple.
Owner Christina Ramos served her final customers a week ago Sunday, bringing an official close to the longtime steakhouse after deciding it no longer made sense to continue operations.
Ramos said the decision came after taking a hard look at what it would take to keep the business going even a few more days.
“I tried. I tried my damndest to be a supporter of this community, and I put so much of my life into this,” Ramos said. “While it’s been painful to let it go, I have a lot of positive memories and a lot of personal growth that’s come from all of this. And at the end of the day, I know that I gave my 100%.”
Ramos, who began her time at Mad Mary’s as a server and spent the past eight years as owner/operator, said she is now focused on what comes next for her, her family and her career.
The business remains for sale at a reduced price of $800,000, though no serious buyer has yet emerged.
For many in the region, the closure leaves a noticeable void. Mad Mary’s had long been a place for celebrations, gatherings and a reliable night out — a role it filled for decades. Memories from longtime customers and fans of the business had been pouring into social media posts for weeks upon learning of the pending closure.
Ramos said she is grateful for the support shown to her, her staff and the business over the years.
