Without even stepping inside the office, it’s easy to see something new is happening at a longtime downtown Flandreau business.
The signage at Flandreau Chiropractic Clinic came down over the weekend, and just as quickly, fresh paint and new signage went up along the E. Second Avenue storefront — a pretty clear sign that a new chapter is already underway.
As we reported a couple of months ago, longtime providers Dr. Chad Weber and his wife Sara Weber recently left Flandreau for a new stage of life and work in Rapid City. And with that transition now official, Dr. Haley Luond — owner and founder of Active Faith Chiropractic, with locations in Sioux Falls and Lennox — hasn’t wasted any time getting the doors open and patients in.
Luond, an Ipswich native, is a former athlete and entrepreneur who first leaned on chiropractic care to stay at the top of her own game. That experience stuck with her, eventually shaping the work she does today — from treating athletes locally to traveling for larger events.
But while her background includes plenty of time working with athletes, Luond says her approach to care goes deeper than that — centered not just on physical health, but on faith, prayer and discipleship.
“We’re not just a chiropractic office. We love discipleship, you know? We start every morning with devotionals, and we truly believe that. It’s about God, it’s about you, it’s about the character that you’re going to present to the world. And we still want to be a great chiropractor and offer the best care, but we want you to offer honest care, and we want you to offer prayer with a patient if they’re having a really bad day. It’s not just about in and out…That’s how it’s always been in my office from the start.”
Her path to Flandreau wasn’t originally about expansion.
Luond said she had purchased the business with the intention of supporting a close friend and colleague, Dr. Bryce Brandt, who had been battling cancer and hoped to practice in the community while healing. His recent and unexpected passing has left her team navigating both grief and the weight of moving forward without him.
Still, she says, the mission hasn’t changed — if anything, it’s become clearer.
Two doctors will now help carry out the work Brandt had hoped to begin. Practicing in Flandreau two days a week will be Dr. Kallan Groseth, DC (“Dr. K”), along with Dr. Dylan Brende, who also operates his own office, Links Chiropractic in Renner.
As the clinic gets its footing, Luond says patients will start to see more services coming online.
“We’re doing a lot of radial pulse wave therapy (RP Wave). We’re doing a lot of what’s called active release technique (ART), it’s a different type of muscle work. We have ultrasound here. We’re still in the process of getting our mechanical decompression machine in for disk bulges, things like that. And then we’re going to be ordering in a specific low-level laser. Those have never steered us wrong in our other offices. And the goal that we always say is, we want to see you, but we don’t want to see you. We truly believe in not just rehabbing the patient but prehabbing the patient, right? Like, let’s make sure that you’re feeling really good so that you don’t have another back flare-up like that again.”
And maybe most importantly — at least in how they approach people — she says the experience won’t feel rushed.
“You know, patients aren’t cattle coming into the office, in any of our offices. We take a lot of time with them. We want to get to know them and sit down and talk with them — know about their grandson’s basketball game the next time we see them.”
It is also always her goal to do what she can to give back to the communities she and her team serve.
Active Faith Chiropractic is expected to continue expanding its presence in Flandreau in the coming weeks, with additional therapies expected as the clinic settles in.
