Moody County Courthouse staff bundled up over the past couple of weeks after the building’s boiler went out. Commission Assistant Marty Skroch said the system failed Feb. 9 or 10, leaving common areas and the courtroom especially chilly. Judge Wheeler moved one scheduled Moody County hearing to Brookings County due to the temperatures. While all offices remained open, some staff were sent home where possible. The Treasurer’s Office, facing a busy week, stayed fully staffed, with multiple space heaters brought in to help keep everyone warm. The boiler, about 13 years old, has since been repaired and is now working again properly.
