
Donna Mae Pottratz (Landis), 80, of Chandler, TX passed away peacefully on February 11th, 2026, at Hospice of East Texas.
Donna was born on January 28,1946 in Flandreau, SD to Donald and Minerva (Moore) Landis. She grew up in Colman, SD alongside her two older sisters, Delores, Shirley, and younger brother, Robert Landis.
Donna attended school at Whaley Country School and graduated from Colman in 1963. She later spent most of her working years as a hairdresser and proudly owned her shop, Donna’s Klip and Kurl in Elkton, South Dakota.
She married Roger Pottratz on March 28, 1971 in Las Vegas, NV. Together, Roger and Donna had two daughters, Roquel Beer, and Michele Hopson. After living in South Dakota for 38 years, Donna and her family moved to Texas in 1984.
Donna found her greatest happiness in quilting and in spending time with her grandchildren, who meant the world to her. She created quilts for family, friends and enjoyed making memories with those she loved the most.
Donna is survived by her husband, Roger Pottratz of Tyler, TX; her daughters, Roquel Beer (David) Schmitt of Mabank, TX, and Michele Hopson (Jeffrey) of Murchison, TX; three grandchildren, Carley (James) Seekford of Flint, Tx, Cory Hopson (attending college in Arkansas) and Cason Hopson of Murchison, TX ; sisters, Delores Warfield of Torrington, WY, Shirley (Mark) Schoeberl of Castle Rock, CO.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Minerva Landis, and brother Robert Landis.
In keeping with Donna’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held this summer in South Dakota with details to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family in support of her grandchildren’s education and future.
Her final written prayer was found and read:
“Dear Lord,
I will continue to put my faith and trust in you. I believe you will make a way in difficult circumstances. You are always faithful.“
