The Warehouse officially begins to take shape

No words were needed.
It was a simple photo sent early Thursday morning concrete being poured at the site of The Warehouse that said it all. Excitement, pride, and the power of community were captured in that one moment.
Construction on the highly anticipated indoor recreational and athletic facility in Flandreau is now underway in earnest, a milestone years in the making. What began as a small groups vision for more year-round opportunities for local youth has turned into a grassroots effort powered by volunteers, donors, and local businesses determined to see it through.
When I was just 7 or 8 years old, I watched my dad and a lot of others get the football field done with the help of a lot of volunteers, said Tom Hansen, whose entire concrete crew was helping with the foundation work.
I didnt think Id ever see something like this again in Flandreau this really is a testament to this community.
The Hansen-Thomas Construction crew joined John Ryans construction team and several others who donated their time and labor Thursday. Much of the work already completed and much still to come has been done in-kind. Many materials have been donated or purchased through local fundraising, though organizers say theres still a ways to go to reach their goal.
An estimated $825,000 is needed to complete the project. So far, about $650,000 has been raised through donations, grants, and community events.
Its exciting to see it moving along, see all of these people come together and help out, and willing to come and help out, said organizer and project co-founder Eric Beltman, who stood alongside the crew as the foundation pour began.
When finished, The Warehouse will be Flandreaus first indoor recreation and athletic complex offering space for pickleball, basketball, wrestling, fitness training, and social gatherings. For more information, check out The Warehouse Flandreau on social media.
