Jacob William Storms was born on August 21, 1990, in Winner, SD to CK and Bill Storms. He grew up in Winner and graduated from Winner High School in 2009. After high school, Jacob attended SDSU for two years and after his father died he moved back to Winner, then to Sioux Falls and Flandreau. Flandreau has been his home for the past 7 years.
Jacob was the very first to earn student of the month in kindergarten. He played in the middle/high school band, quiz bowl, school plays, football, basketball, and threw discus and shotput in track. A proud coach for the Tripp County flag football during his high school career. He was an active altar server at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church until he left for college.
Jake enjoyed his time with friends and family and cherished his memories by telling stories of his adventures. He especially liked his time at scout camp; adventures at Rahn Lake, White River on the Calhoon ranch, Black Hills trip, and Lewis & Clark Camp by Yankton. Jacob earned his Eagle Scout Award, and his project is still protecting our Veterans Flags.
He loved his time hunting and visiting at the Daughters Farm, now The West Office. He made lasting friendships and memories especially with fur friends. The West Office was his peace sanctuary and lasting connection to his dad. The four partners have always been Jacobs stable for advice, life lessons, kindness and fun.
Jacob worked at Winner Food Center, Sooper Dooper/Winner Super Foods, Rosebud concretebin crew, Larsons in Brookings, Hy-Vee in Sioux Falls. He was a loyal employee and was proud of his work especially when he was the produce manager at Maynards in Flandreau.
Jacob was especially close to his work families and made each one a priority. He liked the older customers as he listened and assisted in their needs while in the store and out in the community.
Jacob was a respectful, well-mannered, smart and fun-loving person who cared more about others; he was selfless. He was a man of little words that listened, learned and used his humor to make others laugh. To hear Jacob laugh it was very contagious!
Jacob called his Gmas just to check in and give some love/attention. He would surprise text, call family and if you got a text, message or call; YOU were meaningful and loved by Jacob.
