COLMAN The Colman-Egan Hawks amassed 466 total yards of offense and Hayden Pearson found the endzone six times Friday night when the Hawks defeated Iroquois/Lake Preston, 60-14.
The win gives the Hawks a 5-3 regular season record and advances them to the first round Class 9B playoffs. After opening the season 0-3, the Hawks have rattled off five straight wins.Theyre seeded third and will host Arlington this Thursday night.
Last Friday, Pearsons 291 rushing yards came from 16 carries to average 18 yards per carry.
He scored twice in the first quarter on runs of 54 and one yard, three times in the second quarter using runs of 61, 55 and two and once in the fourth quarter on a 26 yard scamper.
The Sharks scored in both the first and second quarter, but the Hawks defense held them scoreless after halftime.
Neither team scored in third quarter.
Rowdy Bowen added two rushing touchdowns late in the game on runs of 43 and 11 yards. Over the night, two point conversions were chalked up by Pearson (3), and Bowen, Zach Pederson and Mason Wright (1).
At quarterback, Pederson only threw four passes and completed two of them to Wright for 29 yards and Dalin Billmeier for 14.
Defensively, Kale McLaughlin and Ryhder Behnke both made six tackles and Pederson and Thomas Loehr both had five. The defense combined to sack the Shark quarterback four times.
