FLANDREAU Tucker Hemmer had a big night in leading the Fliers into the 2025 playoffs with 175 rushing yards and two touchdowns as Flandreau ended the regular season with a 21-14 come from behind win over the Beresford Watchdogs.
Flandreau closed out the regular season with a 2-6 record and dropped the Watchdogs to 2-6 as well.
The Fliers will be at Elk Point-Jefferson on Thursday night coming in as the 16th seed in Class 11B. The top ranked Huskies are 8-0 and will look to return to the championship game in the Dakota Dome, Vermilion.
Friday night, Hemmer had 10 carries including two scores off runs of seven and, on third and four on the Flier 41, he broke loose and scampered for 59 yards to the endzone.
Justin Klein also had a successful night by scoring a two yard touchdown with :13 remaining in the game in thrilling fashion.
After a Beresford turnover on downs on the Fliers 30 yard line, Flandreau got the ball with 2:50 left to go but the series ended in a Flier punt that was pounced on at the two yard line.
With :35 left, Beresford possessed the ball on the two, when Klein forced a Watchdog fumble and the Fliers recovered. After spiking the ball for extra time, the Fliers regrouped, and Xavier Bien connected with Klein who turned the two yard reception into the winning score.
The Watchdogs lone pass attempt from the Fliers 49 yard line with :03 showing, was foiled.
Under center, Xavier Bien completed three passes for 21 yards including Kleins touchdown.
Hemmer caught one 12 yard pass and Alex Poitra, a seven yard pass.
Also on the ground, Klein rushed 11 times for 26 yards and Poitra had three carries for 11 yards.
The Fliers combined for 233 yards of offense on the night.
Klein and Kody Kneebone took charge of the tackles leading their teams with 18 and 13 respectively. Hemmer added in eight and Tate Hammer had four tackles and a key interception stopping a Watchdog drive midway in the fourth quarter.
