Kaden Burshiem, a senior at Flandreau Indian School, was the medalist at the annual Lakota Nations Invitational Golf Meet held Thursday, October 3.
Heading into the final hole, Burshiem and another golfer were tied, when the FIS golfer teed off about 340 yards to find his ball just three feet off the green. He subsequently two putted for a birdie and won the invitational by one stroke with his par 72.
The meet was held at Box Elders Prairie Ridge Golf Course. There were about 30 golfers all from South Dakota Native American schools throughout the state.
At FIS, Kaden is coached by his father, KC Burshiem.
