Flandreaus top female cross country runner, Faith Wiese shown in center, ran Saturday at the Roy Griak Invitational in the Twin Cities area and turned in another stellar performance. She finished sixth in the high school girls division over the 5000 meter course. Wieses time was 18:50.3 coming in just behind Sioux Falls Christians Ellie Maddox who placed fifth at 18:45.6. Her time was 40 seconds faster than when she ran the same course a year prior when she placed 20th.
“This is a prestigious meet put on by the University of Minnesota,” said Coach Brendan Strietz. “Faith ran against some of the best runners in the region all the best runners in the Minneapolis area for sure.”
Streitz went on to say that the times there are generally not super-fast because the course is pretty challenging and known to push the runners to their limits. There were 396 competitors in the race.
