Silage harvest wrapping up ahead of fall crop season

Parents, players and supporters of the Flandreau Sports Association had a unique opportunity this past week to help tarp a silage pile for a local dairy.
The tires kept coming and we kept carrying them. Many hands make light work, the group shared afterward on their Facebook page.
As semi-loads of silage rolled in, six tractors and loaders that day worked up and down the massive pile northeast of Flandreau, compacting each layer before the next and finally the tarp and tires were added.
Thank you to all of you who showed up to help! Also, thank you to Golden Dakota Farms for allowing us to help out. We appreciate you supporting Flandreau baseball! the group added.
In exchange for helping secure the massive pile, Golden Dakota Farms pledged a donation toward the new indoor recreation and youth sports training facility still in the fundraising stages. Kids and parents both pitched in to give a boost to the project aimed at supporting future generations.
The land purchase for The Warehouse was finalized this past week. Dirt work, donated by Loiseau Construction, is complete, and a pad is now in place with concrete soon to be poured.
For more information on the project or how to get involved, contact Bret Severtson at (605) 864-1343 or Eric Beltman at (605) 680-0818. A larger update on the project and the funds still needed to complete the indoor training facility, community gym and recreation space will be shared in an upcoming issue of the Moody County Enterprise.
