Coming in as the eighth seed and dropping the first round game to top seed Chester Area, the Flandreau girls rebounded winning over Garretson but then lost in four sets to Beresford placing sixth in the Big East Conference Volleyball tournament.
Vs. Beresford 3-1
BERESFORD Flandreau won the first set 25-22, but Beresford stormed back and took the next three and the consolation title in scores of 14-25, 23-25 and 19-25.
Leading the Fliers was Addy Hammer with nine kills and 12 digs. Lily Arnold topped all receivers with 29 digs.
Nora Hamilton made 16 digs, had 13 assists and two ace serves. Elaina Bushkofsy also served up two aces and Schepel made nine assists.
Following Hammer, Ella Hoffman had eight kils and Aly Schepel, seven and she also made two blocks. Rhegan Sheppard and Hoffman both had one block.
Vs. Garretson 3-1
FLANDREAU Lots of scoring came in the game with Garretson. Set scores were 25-21, 25-23, 22-25 and 25-23.
Schepel served up five aces and Arnold had two. Harper Pearson made six digs, Fawn Frias had three and Addy Krull had two, and Hamilton set up nine assists. Bushkofsky had one block, Sheppard had seven and Hoffman, four kills.
Vs. Chester 0-3
The Fliers had trouble from the start against Class B No. 1 Chester to open the tourney. Set scores were 5-25, 13-25, 3-25. On defense Hannah Krull and Schepel each had a block. The offensive effort was led by Hamilton and Arnold with 10 digs each, Schepel and Hamilton with two assists and Hoffman with two kills.
Flandreau hosts Baltic on Thursday evening and then Tuesday, theyll travel to McCook Central/Montrose. Thursday, September 25, theyll host Dell Rapids who is currently sitting on top of the Class A ratings.
Tuesday vs. Garretson
GARRETSON The Garretson Blue Dragons blanked the Fliers on the volleyball court on Tuesday in three straight sets.
Scores were 16-25, 18-25 and 23-25.
Addy Hammer led the team with 29 digs and setting them up were Aly Schepel and Nora Hamilton with six each. With two blocks each, Hannah Krull and Schepel were at the net and Ella Hoffman put down five kilss and Krull, four.
In serving, Elaina Bushkofsky and Hamilton both served up two aces.
Flandreau is now 2-8 on the season.
