From student to teacher

Paloma Fricke of Flandreau has quietly nurtured her passion for ballet over the past several years, taking classes in Sioux Falls and learning the art of movement.

Even when she couldnt find the right class for adults, she didnt stop. Fricke stepped into sessions designed for young girls studying Cecchetti a classical ballet method and worked her way up. She is currently in Grade Three.

Now she cant wait to show others what shes picked up and help grow both their skills and their confidence at the same time.

Its become a calling for her. Fricke recently invited the daughters of close friends and family to take part in her first-ever recital, a low-key chance for her to try her hand at teaching.

Her bigger dream is to formally launch affordable dance classes for children ages 3 to 8 in 2026.

In the meantime, audiences can catch her on stage this holiday season in The Dance Gallerys production of The Nutcracker.
