Final weeks of Farmers Market bring fundraiser, Fall Festival

There are just two regular events left this summer for the Flandreau Farmers Market, held at the Moody County Courthouse complex in downtown Flandreau.
This week, along with the regular lineup of vendors, Leahs Indian Tacos will host a taco fundraiser to benefit the Johanson children. The siblings lost their father, Bret, earlier this summer in an unexpected passing. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to the family.
The markets last regular night of the season will be Sept. 11, with the third annual Fall Festival set to close things out on Sept. 20.
This market season has been steady. A great show of vendors throughout the season and a stellar showing of community support. Gardens are just starting to be ready for harvest, so there will be a bigger showing of fresh vegetables at the remaining market nights, organizer Jen Callahan said.
The Fall Festival will feature food from Mad Marys and Grizzly Meats, carriage rides, vendors and more. For updates, follow the Flandreau Farmers Market Facebook page.
