CE School construction nears completion, enrollment steady

While some other construction projects across Moody County are facing delays due to the recent rains, the final upgrades to the new addition at Colman-Egan Schools seem to be running ahead of schedule.
The addition is coming along great, Superintendent Scott Hemmer said.
They are putting tiles up in the bathroom remodel this week, and theyve begun doing more work on the exterior of the building. Its nice to see how thats all going to take shape.
On the inside of the building, its all about the finishing touches. Hemmer said subcontractors are on-site daily, and its exciting to see the progress unfold on a week-to-week basis.
Outside of the classrooms, two areas that have been getting a lot of attention are the weight room and the track and football field. Hemmer shared, We have not set forth any specific plans for the weight room for this fall. We will be getting some new equipment, and we want to get everything installed and get our school use hours established before opening anything up for others to use it.
As for the track and football field, Hemmer said the district is still in the planning stages:
We continue to look into it and will begin to discuss more criteria to help select a location if the district moves forward with a project.
Enrollment at Colman-Egan is holding steady at about 338 students, Hemmer said, with some minor fluctuations, but the numbers have remained consistent for quite some time.
