Earn win over PBR; lose to Broncos

FLANDREAU The Flandreau Blue Teal earned a big win over last seasons Class B State Champions, Dell Rapids PBR but, took a loss to the Madison Broncos on Sunday afternoon.
Both games were played at Flandreau at the Blind on the Big Sioux Field.
Vs. DR PBR
Emmot Nathan struck out 10 Dell Rapids batters going the distance on the mound, and the Blue Teal held off a seven inning comeback from PBR to pick up a 4-3 win.
Heading into the seventh, Flandreau led 4-1. Dell Rapids scored two in the top half of the seventh before both teams went scoreless to close out the game.
Flandreau had four hits as did Dell Rapids from 29 Blue Teal plate appearances and PBRs 32. Both teams pitchers walked five each.
Topping the batting effort was Mason Riley with a double and Tash Lunda and Tristan Van Wassenhove hitting singles.
Randel was the losing pitcher allowing all four Flandreau runs.
Vs. Madison
Tash Lunday struck out 15 Bronco batters and only walked one, but it wouldnt be enough as the Broncos scored two late game runs breaking the tie and winning a Corn Belt battle, 3-1.
Lunday threw all nine innings allowing seven hits and the three runs.
For the Blue Teal, Dane Mediger was 3-for-3, all singles getting half of the teams hits. Lunday, Sam Gassman and Kolby Peters aided with three one-base hits.
Flandreau had difficulty getting a hit when needed leaving 12 runners on base.
Winning pitcher was Minnaert who threw only two innings coming in relief. Kirchner started on the mound and tossed six giving up the run, four hits and striking out 10 Blue Teal. Allbee pitched the final inning with a hit and a strickout.
This week, the Blue Teal (3-3) host the Colman As Thursday at 7:30 and then head on the road for a late Sunday afternoon game in Humboldt against the H/H Woodducks.
